I like the things around me to be beautiful and slightly dreamy, with a feeling of worldliness. It is difficult to talk about fashion in the abstract, without a human body before my eyes, without drawings, without a choice of fabric – without a practical or visual reality. Design is a series of creative choices – it’s a collaborative effort, an evolutionary process. You choose your fabrics depending upon what you want to say, then you work with mills to get those fabrics. Through the process, you realize what you want it to be. First I made a dress because I was pregnant and I wanted to be the most beautiful pregnant woman. Then I made a sweater because I wanted to have one that wasn’t like anyone else’s. Doing collections, doing fashion is like a non-stop dialogue.
- If I fell in love with a woman for an artistic reason.
- What I hate is nasty, ugly people.
- People said making clothes inside out was not proper.
- I disagreed because clothes that are inside out are as beautiful as a cathedral.
